At Aquatec Bathrooms in Salisbury, you won’t be surprised to learn that we have a wide range of showers to choose from in our showroom. Picking the right one for your bathroom, however, can be a bit of a challenge and requires a good deal of thought.
It’s not just the design you have to consider but also what type of system you are going to use. Here we take a closer look at the options and how to choose the perfect installation.
There are several things to consider when deciding on a shower. The first is going to be the system that you use to heat the water. There are several options here and a lot will depend on your personal preference and, to a certain extent, the type of water system you employ.
1. Electric Shower
This is probably the most common in the UK and involves a unit that is fitted to the wall and heats the water through an internal system. It has one source of water and that’s the cold pipe and is generally very economical. It’s also perfect if you have lots of people popping in and out of the shower.
2. Mixer shower
This uses your hot and cold water supply and a mixer tap or thermostat that you can use to get the right temperature. You need a combi boiler or hot water cylinder to maintain the hot water which can make it a less attractive option if you have many people in the home. It doesn’t, however, require any electrical work.
3. Digital shower
The latest addition to the market is the digital shower where you can use a panel or even your mobile phone to control the heat and the flow of the water. These are essentially smarter showers that provide you with perfect comfort levels at all times.
All of these have eco-friendly options that are designed to save you water as well as money on your fuel bills. You can also find showers with pumps that improve water flow, especially if you live in a high rise or a low water pressure.
The next choice is the shower head and there’s quite a bit of variation. You can have fixed showers that can’t be moved as well as handheld with a slider bar. Ceiling mounted shower heads are becoming increasingly popular and there are also options for different spray patterns.
The next choice is what type of shower tray and surround you want to install. A lot will depend on the space you have. Walk-in showers are becoming more common where the shower tray lies flush with the floor.
Of course, you may want to mix and match different brands to get the look you want but there’s also a lot to be said for all in one systems and surrounds. These incorporate the tray, cabin, and shower and can also include body jets as well as extras such as mood lighting, steam options and even music.
Our aim is to provide you with the shower or bathroom of your dreams. We stock a wide range of brands and models to suit almost any home. Our talented and knowledgeable team can use scaled drawing and computer software to help you visualise your new bathroom.
